Down by the river.....

During our trip to San Antonio we had a great time visiting with everyone and playing out at Winston's parents home.

We practiced archery........

went on a tractor ride.....

played down by the river....

checked out the hunting station....

and celebrated Jared's birthday!
We had a great time spending time with the Millers.

Road Trip Anyone???

A couple weeks ago Winston and I drove to San Antonio for Jonathan (Winston's brother) and Nicole's wedding. We actually split the trip into two days and spent the night in Lubbock Texas. It was nice to get out of the car for a little bit and have a good night's rest. Winston grew up eating at some Mexican place called Casa Ole and he absolutely loves it. So, when we drove by it on our way to the hotel I didn't even have to ask him where he wanted to eat dinner. I knew we were eating at Casa Ole. To be honest with you...it's pretty nasty! But looking on the bright side the service was good. :)

This is Winston, his dad, and brother Jonathan the night before the wedding.

Jonathan and Nicole got married in the San Antonio temple and then had their reception in Boerne. It was a beautiful day, but was very windy and cold.

Reservations vs. Cooking

Last year when my mom and dad came for Thanksgiving, we made reservations at the Marriott and had dinner prepared, served and cleaned up for us. It was great. We walked right in, sat down, ate a great meal and then spent the rest of the day napping, playing games, and watching tons of football. For Christmas last year we got a turkey fryer as a gift.....and so, we really wanted to try it out this year. Needless to say it was a completely different day than last Thanksgiving. My mom and I literally cooked from 9AM-3:30PM, ate for 20 minutes and then had to clean everything up. Although it was fun to spend time with mom learning how to cook - I think until we have a family we may just be making reservations at the local Marriott from now on!

Thanksgiving Week

My mom and dad came to visit us for Thanksgiving. On Sunday afternoon we went for a drive. Look what we came across.

Latin Grammy's

This is my friend Becky and her dad.....aka "Big Bass Brian."
They are on the green carpet at the Latin Grammy Awards.
Big Bass is a big time Mastering Engineer in LA and was up for a Grammy.
Isn't Becky beautiful? :)

It's getting cold!

A couple weekends ago I finally had a Saturday off! Yea! We really wanted to do something in the mountains, but by the time we finally left the house it was a little late in the day. So....we just ended up going on a drive. It was really cold AND windy!

This was taken at Dillon Lake near Breckenridge. Harley was lovin the water.

Elk Hunting Season

Elk hunting season begins on October 20th - Winston is going to Chromo, Colorado with some friends to hunt elk for a couple of days. He has been preparing for this trip for the last couple of weeks. He was so excited to see this herd of elk right by our house. Too bad it wasn't the 20th yet! :)

Wild Turkeys

A couple weeks ago Winston and I took a Sunday afternoon drive (trying to get some time together after church and before my weekly meetings!) and we ran into a group of turkeys. I'm not quite sure what the term is for a bunch of turkeys....flock?

Megan's Baptism

A couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend my nieces baptism. It was so fun to see her so excited. She looked beautiful.
All the girls went to get pedicures the day before. It was Megan's first time!

Humidity.....

Two days after I got back from Arizona I flew to Florida to visit my parents for the Labor Day weekend. Winston was already there on business and so I flew into Orlando to meet him. The next morning we drove north a couple of hours to Gainesville where my parents live. We always try to pick at least one weekend in the fall to visit them and attend a Florida football game. It was Florida's first game and they played Western Kentucky University - it was supposed to start at 7 PM, but for some reason they changed it to a 12:30 kick-off......you know what that means??? Hot and Humid!
Winston and my mom weren't feeling very well so my dad and I took off to join the other 90,000 fans.
It's always an amazing experience to be a gator fan at a home football game. There are tons of people packed in the swamp and there's a reason they call it the swamp. I was totally sweating by the time we even got to our seats......in fact, I was soaken wet. it was ridiculous. My shorts were soaked as well as my shirt. Note to self.....gray t-shirts show sweat more!
About ten minutes after sitting there i gave up on trying to look semi cute - I pulled my hair back and just let the sweat run down my body EVERYWHERE.
But the one thing that I really didn't understand were all the cute girls that didn't have a drip of sweat on them. I don't know how they do it. My dad thought maybe it was because they really weren't wearing anything at all! :) He was probably right!

Grandma's Funeral

These past couple of weeks have been a whirl wind. My unexpected trip to Arizona last weekend was a wonderful, but sad weekend.....if you can have both at the same time. It was really fun to see all of my cousins that I haven't seen in years. We laughed and cried all weekend while reminiscing about Grandma. There are only 8 grandkids on the Blaser side and we were all really close to G. Blaser. In fact, I think she made us ALL feel like we were her favorite grandchild.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: David Blaser, Becky Otterson, Julie Hobbs, Lisa Delap, Roger Bean, Jacque Miller, Tracy Bean and Brad Bean

Saturday evening all the grandkids and spouses met at Cafe Rio for dinner and a "family meeting" to discuss the funeral details. It's a good thing my sister took charge...my dad couldn't seem to make any decisions (rightfully so).

On Sunday evening we all met at my cousin Becky's house for ice cream sundaes and to practice the music for the funeral. The great grand children (I think there were 22 in attendance) sang a medley of songs with Jennie on the piano and Malyn playing the violin.

On Monday morning before the funeral all 5 grand daughters had the opportunity to dress and prepare Grandma. It was such an emotional experience, but such an honor to have the opportunity to serve my grandmother one last time. The funeral was wonderful and I learned so many great things about her.

Grandma Blaser

The other night (8/22/07) I got a call from my dad telling me that my grandma Blaser had passed away. I was heart broken, but even more sad for my dad. I don't see him or hear him cry very often.
I'm heading to Arizona in the morning to be with my family and to attend her funeral. I have so many fond memories of my grandma.

I remember one time in college my girlfriend Kim and I went down to St. George to stay with them (my grandma and grandpa) for the weekend. The first night we went with some friends to Mesquite and didn't get back until about 3:00 in the morning. They were so mad at us that they "grounded" us for the rest of the weekend! :) Not only am I in college getting grounded by my grandparents, but my friend also got grounded!

Although she is probably better off I will still miss her dearly.

One day at a time....

How would you feel if you went to the doctor for some tests and when he came out with the results he told you......you had cancer? In just a matter of seconds so many thoughts are going through your mind. What kind of cancer is it? Has it spread anywhere? Is it curable? Is it treatable? How will I finish and complete my obligations during treatments? How am I going to tell my friends? What will they think? Will I lose my hair?

Last week our sister-in-law was diagnosed with cancer. My heart dropped into my stomach when we got the call from my mother-in-law......after a very stressful week of test after test and doctor appointments after doctor appointments she just got some great news......The spots they found on her liver and lung are benign! Yea!

We just want Kristin to know how much we love her and that we are praying for her and her cute little family. She is so amazing and will fight this cancer with determination and great strength.

Cancer sucks, but it's amazing the technology they have these days to treat this disease.

Isn't she the cutest thing?
We love you Kristin!

A New Driveway

A couple months ago our builders told us that due to some chips or flakes or something in our driveway, they have to redo it and pour new cement. I had totally forgotten about it until I came home from work today to this.......

Kenny Chesney

On June 30th - we hosted Kenny Chesney at Dicks Sporting Goods Park (great name, huh? aka Dicks) the new soccer stadium in Commerce City. The concert was absolutely fantastic...not only because I'm a big fan of Kenny, but there's so much energy and excitement when hosting your first big event at a brand new stadium. It was fun just to be a part of it - even when fans, with 5 minutes left in the concert, want a refund because Sugarland didn't end up performing. Really...you want to watch the entire concert and then get a refund? People crack me up. We are still dealing with the aftermath of the concert. We are bringing several people back to other concerts and/or a game because they weren't happy with the performance. Sometimes I think we are way too nice!

Rockies vs. Cubs

Saturday evening Winston and I went, for the first time, to Coors Field to see the Rockies play the Chicago Cubs. It was a perfect evening. We had a great time and the Rockies killed the Cubs.

Beau Jo's

After the shooting competition we went to eat lunch at Beau Jo's in Idaho Springs. They are well known for their pizza.

Shooting Competition

On Saturday Winston entered his first shooting competition with his friend Paul.

Me and Alysa went up to watch and root them on.....can you say "RED NECK"

Winston in action!
